Content Marketing Strategist and Copywriter
August 2017 – present
As content marketing strategist and copywriter for Elite Business Systems, I co-develop and execute multifaceted digital and content marketing campaigns that yield substantial results. Combining a solid understanding of storytelling and psychology with an expertise in inbound marketing tactics, including blogging, marketing automation, search engine optimization, e-book and white paper content creation, website updates, and email marketing, I help clients attract, engage, educate, entertain, and motivate their audiences.
April 2017 – February 2020
As managing editor of Recovery Campus, I assisted the editor-in-chief in all matters necessary to the production of the magazine, bringing energy, creativity, and collaborative leadership to the team. I administered all day-to-day operations, including generating story ideas; planning, assigning, and editing content; overseeing spending; commissioning stories and art; overseeing production schedules and editorial calendars; and supervising editorial staff and freelancers. Prior to this role, I served as a contributing writer, a role I had held since February 2016.
Strategic Communications Associate
July 2012 – December 2015
I worked beats to find and tell stories about the University of Missouri, from research breakthroughs and sports victories to student accomplishments and academic opportunities. I reported, wrote, and edited award-winning articles and feature stories for MIZZOU, the alumni magazine, and Mizzou News, the news site for the university. I created production schedules, organized assignments, and worked closely with the designer and photographers on publication concepts. I also wrote and edited marketing publications for external audiences.
Senior Content Manager
March 2017 – present
As the senior content manager for Redwood Art Group, a leading online art gallery that produces five art fairs annually and publishes Art Business News, I develop the content and email marketing strategies, creating editorial and social media calendars and building out project plans. I oversee all print and digital content creation, writing entertaining, informative, and SEO-optimized copy and updating all sections of the website. I focus on systems analysis, spearheading the transition to HubSpot in preparation for the launch of our e-commerce platform and using all available tools to grow our reach and impact.
Independent Content Consultant
January 2016 – present
I am hired by clients to come in and elevate their brand, creating messaging that connects the client with their audience, develops their brand, and promotes a consistent identity. I collaborate with an array of departments, such as editorial, marketing, the product team, the creative team, analytics, engineering, and ad sales, and possess an in-depth understanding of each discipline’s role in the process. Skilled with platforms for digital publishing, project management, and social media, I use data to track content performance to troubleshoot and fine-tune messaging. Recent clients include MIZZOU, Walden University, Varo, Amica, Hog Wild Toys, Zolo, Hinge Health, HumanGood, and DCG Strategies.
May 2010 – June 2012
As the editor of Renew, a startup lifestyle magazine for the addiction recovery community, I had my hand in every phase of the publication process, from providing customer service in conjunction with our fulfillment house to supervising the internship program to developing the brand of the magazine and the website. I also generated editorial content and conducted research for many of the magazine’s departments and was in charge of editing and proofreading each issue. As a small staff that operated without a central office, I oftentimes found myself working on aspects of producing a magazine that didn’t fall under my editor role. I took on challenging roles and learned new skills with excitement and determination.

VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS AT DCG STRATEGIES
"I had the pleasure of working with Kelsey for a little over a year, and she was absolutely fantastic and exceeded all expectations. MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT
"Kelsey has helped me on a contract basis, and she has been fantastic. She is able to understand a concept quickly and then either create or edit content very effectively. As important, she is able to deliver material on tight turns without compromising quality one bit. I am delighted to have found her and look forward to an ongoing working relationship."
KELLY O'ROURKE JOHNS
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS AT MINNESOTA MASONIC CHARITIES
"As the founding editorial director for Renew, I had the good fortune to get to know Kelsey as an assistant editor and, eventually, as my editor. I had to manage Kelsey from another location, so I needed someone I could count on to work independently and proactively. Kelsey is wise beyond her years and performs every task with a high level of professionalism and integrity. She's forward-thinking, detail-oriented, and extremely conscientious. If I ever have the opportunity to hire her again, I will do so without blinking an eye. A true 'find!'"
