As managing editor of Recovery Campus, I assisted the editor-in-chief in all matters necessary to the production of the magazine, bringing energy, creativity, and collaborative leadership to the team. I worked beats to find and tell stories about the University of Missouri, from research breakthroughs and sports victories to student accomplishments and academic opportunities. I reported, wrote, and edited award-winning articles and feature stories for MIZZOU, the alumni magazine, and Mizzou News, the news site for the university. I created production schedules, organized assignments, and worked closely with the designer and photographers on publication concepts. I also wrote and edited marketing publications for external audiences.

As the senior content manager for Redwood Art Group, a leading online art gallery that produces five art fairs annually and publishes Art Business News, I develop the content and email marketing strategies, creating editorial and social media calendars and building out project plans. I oversee all print and digital content creation, writing entertaining, informative, and SEO-optimized copy and updating all sections of the website. I focus on systems analysis, spearheading the transition to HubSpot in preparation for the launch of our e-commerce platform and using all available tools to grow our reach and impact.

May 2010 – June 2012

As the editor of Renew, a startup lifestyle magazine for the addiction recovery community, I had my hand in every phase of the publication process, from providing customer service in conjunction with our fulfillment house to supervising the internship program to developing the brand of the magazine and the website. I also generated editorial content and conducted research for many of the magazine’s departments and was in charge of editing and proofreading each issue. As a small staff that operated without a central office, I oftentimes found myself working on aspects of producing a magazine that didn’t fall under my editor role. I took on challenging roles and learned new skills with excitement and determination.
